Great question! Many filters come with a cheap, flimsy plastic pouch or a basic front cap. Our Metal Filter Rear Cap is a different and complementary tool. It's a precision-machined, threaded metal cap designed specifically to protect the rear (camera-side) threads and glass of your filter. When combined with the filter's original front cap, you create a fully enclosed, rigid"case"that protects the filter from all sides. It's the missing piece in your filter protection system.

Why do we need this? Our filter seems fine in its little bag.
Those thin pouches offer almost zero crush protection. A slight bump in our bag can press another lens against our filter, causing permanent scratches or cracks on the glass. A metal rear cap provides a hard, protective shell. How do we use it? Is it complicated?
It's the easiest piece of gear we'll own! Simply unscrew  filter from our lens. Then, screw this Metal Rear Cap onto the back threads of the filter. That's it. Now we can safely drop it into our bag's pocket. When we need the filter again, unscrew the rear cap and screw the filter onto the lens.

Will it fit our brand of filter?
Yes! Compatibility is based on thread size, not brand. Whether we use B+W, Hoya, Tiffen, NiSi, LingoFoto, or any other standard filter, if the diameter matches, it will fit. Check the filter's rim for the size marking (e.g.,"Ø77mm"or"77mm").

Will the metal scratch the filter?
No. These caps are made from high-quality, anodized aluminum with a smooth, threaded interior. The machining is precise to ensure a secure but gentle fit. They are designed specifically to protect, not damage, your gear.
