What's it for?

1. Connect: Your lenses have different thread sizes (e.g., 39mm), and the matte box has a fixed port (e.g., 86mm). This ring screws onto your lens and clips into the matte box to lock them together.

2. Block Light: It creates a tight seal so stray light doesn't leak in through the gap and ruin your shot.

3. Convenience: When changing lenses, you can often just detach the matte box from this ring instead of the whole rig. Faster.

This adapter is highly compatible with most professional matte boxes using the size which slightly bigger than our Ring O.D. 85mm  Such as a standard 86mm. However, you must also purchase the correct lens step-up ring based on your specific lens filter size for the system to work.

Let's have a compatibility overview:

1. What it's DESIGNED to work with (Perfect Match):

• Matte Box End: It is made specifically for matte boxes that have a "86mm inner diameter clamp-style port" at the back. This is a very common industry standard. If your matte box has an 86mm round opening with a locking screw, it will be compatible.

2. What YOU Need to Match (The Crucial Part):

• Lens End: This specific adapter has an 58mm outer diameter(Male Thread) on the lens side. It screws directly onto your lens.  If your lens size is 39mm, it doesn't match our Male Thread 58mm. Then you must buy a separate lens ring that matches your lens's filter thread size. For example, if your lens has a 39 mm filter thread, you need to buy a "39mm to 58mm Step-Down Ring".

3. You can match any 82mm accessories with a 82mm Male thread on this ring Top

In short: This58-82mm O.D. 85mm Matte Box Step Up Ring is the 86mm standard end. To use it, you need a 2-part system:

• Lens Ring: A Step Down ring from your lens size (e.g., 39mm) to 58mm.  (This Ring is not necessory if your lens is happen to be 58mm)

How to use our 58-82mm O.D. 85mm Matte Box Step Up Ring with your 86mm Matte Box and Ø39mm Femal thread Lens?

Think of it as a two-part system: you need your own lens ring AND this adapter ring. Here‘s how it all goes together:

Step 1: Get Your Lens Ready (You need to buy this part separately if your lens doen't match the size in our list)

1. Check your lens: Look for the filter thread size at the front (like Ø39mm).

2. Get the right ring: Buy a "step-up ring" that matches your lens size to 58mm (e.g., a 39mm to 58mm step-up ring).

3. Screw it on: Carefully screw this step-up ring clockwise onto your lens' filter threads. Make sure it's snug.

Step 2: Attach the Matte Box Adapter Ring 

1. Plug into the matte box: Take the adapter ring and push its smooth, O.D. 85mm side into the 86mm round port on the back of your matte box.

2. Secure it loosely: Tighten the matte box's own side clamp screw just enough to hold the adapter ring in place for now.

Step 3: Connect Everything & Lock It Down

1. Slide it all together: Now, take the whole matte box (with the adapter ring attached) and slide it back over the step-up ring that's on your lens.

2. The crucial lock: Here's the important bit. Find the three (or more) small set screws on the side of the adapter ring. Using the included Allen key, evenly and firmly tighten these screws. They will clamp the adapter ring tightly onto your step-up ring. This is what makes everything solid and prevents light leaks.
