Once attached, you can finally use all those standard 49mm filters—UV for protection, ND for long exposures in bright light, or a CPL to cut reflections and boost skies. Want a lens hood for extra flare protection? Just find one with a 49mm thread.
NP8339 (The 52mm Upgrade): This one is the "step-up"special. It gives your camera a 52mm front thread. Why would you want that? The 52mm size is incredibly popular. This often means you have a much bigger selection of filters and accessories to choose from, sometimes at better prices. It’s also perfect if you already own some 52mm gear from another camera system.

Get the 49mm Adapter (NP8342/NP8343) if...

Q: Is it hard to put on?
A: Not at all! Just make sure your camera is off. Gently screw it onto the front of your lens, clockwise, until it's snug. Please don't force it or overtighten it. Hand-tight is perfect.
Q: Can I still use my camera's built-in lens cap?
A: Yes! The adapter is designed to sit outside the area where the built-in cap closes. Your camera's original automatic cap will work exactly as before.
Q: My friend has a Leica Q2. Will this fit that?
A: Nope. These are designed specifically for the Leica X1, X2, and XE series with their fixed lenses. The Q series, M series, and others have completely different designs and threads.
Q: Can I put a step-up ring on this adapter to go even bigger?
A: You absolutely can. Once the adapter is on, your camera effectively has a 49mm or 52mm thread. You can then use standard step-up rings (like 49mm to 67mm) to attach even larger filters. Just remember, the more you stack, the more you risk seeing the corners of the rings in your photos, especially at wider focal lengths.
