Lens Adapter Tube For Canon Digital Camera
Think Your Old Digital Camera Is Limited? Add a World of Accessories with an Adapter Tube!
Do you have a capable older digital camera—like a Canon PowerShot G series or A series—that still takes great photos but feels a bit limited in options? Maybe you wish you could attach a circular polarizer to reduce reflections, or a neutral density filter for smooth long exposures, or even a wide-angle adapter for broader shots. You can! The secret is a little gadget called an adapter tube.
Look at the list above. These aren't lens adapters like you might use on a DSLR. They're precision-made tubes, each one designed to screw directly onto the specific lens barrel of a particular camera model, like the G1X (LC8341), G7/G9 (LC8350), or A700 series (LC8353). Once it's attached, the front of the tube has a standard filter thread—52mm, 58mm, 67mm, etc.—that opens up a whole new world.

What's the Point? Your Camera’s Untapped Potential.
Your compact camera's built-in lens is great, but it's"locked in."An adapter tube is like giving it a universal front port. Suddenly, you can use:
Filters: UV, Polarizing (CPL), Neutral Density (ND), color filters.
Lens Attachments: Wide-angle, telephoto, or macro converter lenses (sometimes called"auxiliary lenses").
Lens Hoods: To reduce lens flare.
Protective Filters: To keep the vulnerable front lens element safe.
It's a simple, affordable way to dramatically expand your creative control without buying a whole new camera system.
But How do we know which one fits my camera? The model number is everything! The description tells you exactly which camera model the tube is for (e.g.,"for G15/G16"or"for A610/A620"). You must match it perfectly. The physical shape and threading on your camera's lens barrel are unique. Do not assume a"58mm tube"will fit all cameras with a 58mm front thread—it must be the specific tube for your specific camera.
This is the best part! This number (37mm, 52mm, 58mm, 67mm) is the standard filter thread size on the front of the adapter tube after it's mounted on your camera. This is what allows you to screw on all those accessories mentioned above. You’ll buy your filters and attachments in this size.
The tube itself, being empty, has no effect. However, the quality of the accessory you put in front of it does. A cheap, poorly-made filter or converter lens can degrade sharpness and cause vignetting (dark corners). Investing in decent quality accessories is key to getting good results.
There are different tubes (e.g., silver/black, 52mm/58mm) for the same camera model. Why?
There are two main reasons:
Aesthetic Choice: Sometimes it's just color (Black vs. Silver) to match your camera's finish.
Different"Step-Up"Sizes: Your camera's original lens thread might be, say, 37mm. The adapter tube might"step it up"to a more common 52mm or 58mm front thread. A larger front thread gives you more options and is less prone to vignetting with thick filters, but the tube itself might be slightly larger/heavier.
Technically yes, better no to. Stacking too much weight on the end of your camera's retractable lens barrel can strain the motorized mechanism. It's also more likely to cause vignetting. Use only what you need.
